As his life would have it, he would grow up to become a man of great character, which is a reflection of the effort and intention his mom and older brother put into raising him. A son, brother, and uncle, Albert was passionate about making an impact in the world and made it his goal to attend college with the hopes of breaking the cycle many black family faces today.
He used his love for football as a tool to fuel his dream of one day becoming a journalist. A dream that led him to Coffeyville Community College before moving onto the KU. A dream that was fueled by his hope to use the power of stories to reshape the narrative of the black identity in America through telling empathetic and authentic stories of the people that came from communities like his. A dream that is now at risk of being taken away for something he did not do.
